Sworn Positions 

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of Age
  • Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must possess a valid Utah Driver’s License
  • Must be in good physical condition (as determined by the physical fitness test)

Application Process

The Bountiful City Police Department posts employment advertisements in the local newspapers and on this website when sworn positions become available. The deadline for the submission of these applications is included in the employment advertisement. Applicants meeting the minimum requirements will be sent a letter inviting them to participate in the first phase of the testing process, which consists of the physical fitness test. Individuals who pass the first phase will be invited to move on to the second phase, and so on. Interested persons may pick up and submit applications at the Bountiful City Police Department, which is located at 805 S. Main in Bountiful.

Testing Process

  • Physical Fitness Test
    • Bench Press 75% of your body weight
    • Jump 16″ vertically from a standing position
    • Complete 35 Sit-ups in one minute
    • Complete 25 Push-ups; no time limit
    • Run a mile and a half in 15:54 minutes time or less
  • Oral Interview
  • Background Investigation
  • Psychological Evaluation

Civilian Positions 

Minimum Requirements For Dispatchers

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • One year clerical experience
  • Must type 50 wpm
  • Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must pass a background check

Testing Process

  • Perfex Test – allows applicant to demonstrate multi-tasking skills, map recognition, and speaking skills.
  • Oral Interview – with the dispatch board. The board will discuss some of the departments policies, the dispatch schedules, overtime, and benefits. We ask questions of the applicants and they are given the opportunity to ask questions to the board.
  • Background Investigation
  • Polygraph Test
  • Drug Screen – completed upon acceptance of a conditional offer of employment
