The Bountiful Police Department oversees the Crossing Guards throughout Bountiful. School crossing guards play an important role in the lives of children who walk or ride bicycle to school. They help children safely cross the street at key locations. The presence of the crossing guards reminds drivers to reduce their speeds and pay more attention to their surroundings. While the primary role of a school crossing guard is to guide children safely across the street, children play an important role in their safety. Please remind your children the importance of street safety, and encourage them to use cross walks.
It is illegal and dangerous to drive through any reduced speed zone and school crosswalk when it is occupied by anyone, regardless of their position in the crosswalk. Remain at a complete stop until the crosswalk is unoccupied.
Bountiful Crossing Guards serve several schools in the Bountiful area. There are 20 school crossings equipped with a Crossing Guard during school crossing times. Each school crossing is marked with signs, 36″ orange cones, and painted school crossings. Many of them are 20 MPH reduced speed limit zones marked by flashing lights.
We are always accepting applications for future crossing guard openings. If any questions regarding open crossing guard positions, please contact Julie Feigleson at 801-298-6023
