PRESS RELEASE – KIDNAPPING/DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INVESTIGATION AND ARREST

On 1-19-14 at 1155 p.m.  Bountiful Police Department received a report of two missing persons (Mother and teenage son) from a concerned family member.  Officers responded and checked the residence, finding no signs of a crime.   Initial attempts to locate the missing parties were unsuccessful.  At 0954 hours this morning the victim, Synthia Rowland was able to text her mother and indicate that she had been beaten and abducted by her estranged husband Taylor Rowland.  At that time the victim indicated she was in the Green River / Moab area.

Investigators contacted the law enforcement agencies in Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico with a vehicle description and the reported facts.  At approximately 1135 a.m.  San Juan County Deputies and Blanding City Police Officers located the vehicle in Blanding, with three occupants.  Dwayne Taylor Rowland was arrested and is being held in the San Juan County Jail pending transport to Davis County for booking on kidnapping and domestic violence charges.  The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries related to her assault.  The couple’s juvenile son was unharmed.
